“I applied at GUCL to become a lawyer while maintaining my financial and family commitments. The demands of the curriculum are challenging, but the small class sizes and knowledgeable and helpful faculty and staff afford me an optimal learning environment.  GUCL has become my home away from home where I am provided with everything I need to succeed. It is very encouraging to watch my friends graduate and pass the bar. To me, it is well worth the effort.”

-Kate Domenico, Class of 2008

Rick Sedrakian “A co-worker who graduated from GUCL told me about this law school. I attended a couple of lectures and instantly realized that this particular law school is the best choice for my legal education. GUCL was the only law school I applied to since its proximity to my work place, affordability of tuition, and caring family atmosphere of faculty and staff could not be matched by any others. To me, GUCL is like home away from home. After long and tiring work days as an insurance claims examiner, I actually look forward to going to school in the evenings to learn something new. Small class sizes allow each and every student close contact with professors and participation in class discussions.

I would recommend GUCL to working adults who are looking for an enhancement or a change in their careers. The school is also perfect for individuals who are not planning to spend a fortune on attaining a law degree.”

-Rick Sedrakian, Class of 2008

Rich Hansberger “I am well settled in a career and have a family and friends to whom I am devoted. In short, like many others at Glendale University College of Law, my life is full with work, family, and friends. Yet I came to a realization some time ago that I could advance much further in my career if I could complete a legal education and become a practicing attorney. Of course, I still had to work, so returning to school full-time was simply not an option. And I knew that my family and friends would have to lend their support by accommodating a schedule that would leave me little time to socialize or relax.

GUCL provided the ideal solution: an environment of motivated students whose breadth of life and work experience benefits me personally and professionally; a talented group of core faculty whose combined knowledge and expertise helps me aspire every day to reach my goal of practicing law; a professional educational staff who keep me focused and on track, yet who respect the demands placed on me by work, family, and friends. In short, GUCL provided me an invaluable opportunity to learn from and with the best and brightest, yet to do so in an environment that respected the demands placed on me as a working professional.

Without a doubt the curriculum at GUCL is demanding and the educational experience is challenging, yet I have been privileged to find myself amidst a group of people - students, staff, and faculty - who together create an environment that helps me succeed. Learning can be a lonely process, as you have only yourself most of the time to rely on (especially when you're still preparing late at night for a class the next evening!). Thus, it helps in so many ways to have a place to go where everyone supports each other. Such a unique place is GUCL. Without it, I would not have come as far as I have in such a short time. I have come to respect the opportunity GUCL affords deeply, and I know that if I do reach my goal, it will largely be due to the fact that so many people at GUCL kept telling me along the way that with effort and desire I could reach that goal.”

-Rich Hansberger, Class of 2009

Gary“When I decided to pursue a career as an attorney, I wanted to find a law school that was conveniently located, affordable, and allowed me to continue to work my regular job during the day and attend classes at night. Glendale University College of Law was the perfect fit for me.

Glendale University College of Law offers a student more than a quality legal education. The Dean, the professors, and the staff know the students by name. When you are here, you feel like part of a community - a family - and not just another face in the crowd.

The study of law is challenging, and at times intimidating. But at GUCL, I always find it enjoyable. To the prospective law student looking for the right school, I would invite you to visit GUCL and arrange to visit one of the class sessions.”

-Gary A. Harris, Class of 2008

Alves“I chose Glendale University College of Law, in part, because of its reputation for providing a quality legal education at an affordable cost. I was also attracted to its convenient location to downtown Los Angeles, where I work full-time as a workers’ compensation claims examiner.

I would describe the environment at GUCL as formal, yet nurturing. The faculty and staff treat students as professionals and hold us to strict professional standards. The program can be distinguished from other schools because it is designed for success, rather than reducing class size.

What I like best about GUCL is the heart of the student body. Coming from diverse personal and professional backgrounds, we share a common passion for the law and bring with us various perspectives to each class discussion. Attending GUCL has been a rewarding, life-changing experience for me. As a second year student, I have already grown in many ways unimaginable to anyone who has not studied the law.

My advice to my underclassmen would be to remain strong and steadfast, but open to change. My advice to prospective students would be to choose GUCL.”

-Steve Alves, Class of 2009

“It is an overwhelming feeling after almost three years of law school to look back at the time when I was just applying to Glendale University College of Law.

I was a foreign student who came to the United States with a sole purpose and dream of improving and diversifying my legal education. In order to develop necessary linguistic skills, I had attended language schools for a year and enrolled in a paralegal course at City College for another year. Then I was finally happy to be admitted at our Glendale University College of Law. But I was truly nervous whether I would be able to understand subject matter in English and whether people would be able to perceive my speech.

It turned out that night classes at Glendale University College of Law were a special blessing for me. During the first year, I used to study all day on my own with a huge English dictionary on my lap and then later in the evening attend class where I had a chance to listen to wisdom of our professors and often participate in the class discussion. After taking Torts, Contracts and Legal Writing I and successfully passing all the quarterly exams in that year, I felt not only more confident in my English but also fascinated by the American legal system.

In the third year, I still study a lot but without a dictionary on my lap at all times. I still speak with an accent but I do not need another kind student to occasionally “interpret” my speech for others. So far the journey has been joyful because my professors have patience for those who really want to learn and my classmates show courtesy to each other. Looking back, I wonder what I would have been doing had I not chosen to study at this school and then I have happy butterflies in my stomach. I’m still here!”
